- Bochum, Germany, March 10 (Bloomberg) -- Escom AG'sfounder and chief
- executive, Manfred Schmitt, offered to resign because of the higher-than-
- expected 1995 loss of 125 million deutsche marks ($84 million), Focus magazine
- reports in its next issue. Schmitt told the magazine he takes full
- responsibility for the German computer company's loss, and he will only remain
- if the shareholders "expressly ask" him to stay. Escom's supervisory board is
- scheduled to meet Monday to discuss Schmitt's resignation offer, the magazine
- said.

- On Thursday, the company announced it would sell 6.06 millionshares to raise
- almost 60 million marks, and Schmitt would reduce his Escom stake to 30
- percent from 48.5 percent.
